2008-2009

This current body of work evolved from a continued interest in the empowerment of ordinary space through rituals, such as dance to create ‘transformed space’ or sacred space.

The works in this exhibition investigate the tradition of sutra, a Sanskrit term literally meaning ‘a thread’, or a highly condensed aphoristic method of literary expression. The continued study and contemplation of sutras, are used in some cultures as a way of empowering the practitioner, by providing a transformative opportunity.

These pieces are visual explorations of the concept of empowering ordinary or natural objects and spaces. They explore the movement or underlying energies in nature that unify the natural world (prana) as they resonate through our affinity with colour, form, texture and mood.
